How to Choose Hair Color for Your Skin Tone and Eye Color

hair color for your skin tone and eye color
The easiest way to change your appearance is to do something with your hair. Choosing the right hair color is not as easy as just choosing a color that you like. There are many factors that you should consider before choosing a color for your hair. Here are some steps that you can follow to make sure you choose the right hair color.

Observe what type of skin tone you have.

  •  If you have yellow hues to your skin avoid yellow, gold or orange tones. Stick to deep reds and cool dark browns.
  •  If you have olive skin you suit darker hair colors. You should never go lighter than your skin because it appears fake.
  • Pale skin suits pretty much any hair color.
  • If you have pink skin, avoid shades of red or golden blonde. Stick to ash tones to neutralize your coloring.
  • If you are extremely pale then do not go for black or very dark hair because it makes you look even paler then you already is.
Determine your eye color. Eye color and hair color go hand in hand.

A hair color with warm colors like gold, red and reddish colors are best for people with green or brown eyes. This is because certain eye colors also have a yellow base.
People with blue eyes or gray hair color are best suited as a light gold or cool-toned gray color. These eye colors have a blue base as opposed to having a brown or yellow base.

Determining the Right Hair Color for You
  1. Red. Consider going with a red if you meet most of the following criteria:

  •     Pink skin. Women with cool or pink skin pull this color off best. Conversely, it would not look natural on those with golden or olive skin.
  •     Your hair is in good condition. If your hair is dry or damaged, it will have a hard time holding on to red color molecules.

      2. Brown. Consider dyeing your hair brown if you meet most of the following criteria:

  •     Your hair is mousy brown now. This would be a minor change then that is just deepening your current hair color.
  •     You want a low-maintenance color. The upkeep for brown is minimal and the kits for brown hair color that can be bought over the counter are almost impossible to mess up.
  •     Your hair is damaged. Browns reflect well in light and minimize breakages and tresses.

      3. Black. Consider going black if you meet the following criteria.
  • You have darker skin. Black or olive skin works best with this color.
  •     You are absolutely certain you want black. This is the hardest color to lift. Once you get it, it's almost impossible to dye it back to your old color without damaging your hair.

Warnings

You can't go from one extreme of hair color to another.
When you are coloring your hair for the first time, do not do it by yourself. Get it done by a professional.
Keep hair coloring to a limit because you can damage your hair

Tips

Red hair color is the brightest shade and attracts most attention. Be sure to choose a shade of red that compliments your skin tone.
Blonde hair dye is particularly harmful to already damaged hair, as bleach is a powerful chemical. It's best to make sure your hair is healthy before going blond. Keep in mind that most shades of blond usually tend to look unnatural on olive or dark skinned people.
Remember that if you have blemishes, a full block color will bring them out. Also if you're over 25, full block colors should generally be avoided.
